About Ms. Smith

My name is Ms. Rhonda Smith and I will be your child’s teacher for the 2015-2016  school year.   I have high expectations for all of my students and only want them to be the  best they can be.  My expectations are as followed:

· Obey the school and classroom rules.

· Respect yourself, others, and property.

· Concentrate on your work.

· Think about your actions

· Do your absolute best

I once was a second grade student in the Pontiac School District (Mark Twain Elementary) and I have a great concern for the students and the way they learn.  In particular, hands-on activities, whole group introductions, small group learning, direct instruction, intervention groups, guided reading, and real life experiences to enhance learning and establish prior knowledge.

Just a little background, I am a graduate of Avondale High School, West Virginia State University, (Elementary Education), Marygrove College (Master’s in Education) and currently working on a Master’s in Human Resource Management at Marygrove College.  I enjoy reading, writing, painting, cooking, watching movies, travling, and spending time with my family.

I have been teaching for 10 years and truly enjoy teaching in the Pontiac School District, just as my mom, Anna Smith and my aunt, Patricia Waller have done.
